Sonja Stefanovska is Managing Director of Baumer Macedonia, part of the Swiss family-owned Baumer Holding — a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced sensor technology and measuring instruments, established in Macedonia in 2018. As Chief Executive of Baumer’s first greenfield investment, she has been a driving force since the start-up phase, providing strategic direction and hands-on leadership across every core function.
Sonja has more than 25 years of experience designing, implementing and managing complex projects to optimise organisational efficiency, strengthen market position, grow business and support sustainable development across a range of sectors. Over a notably varied career she has built strategic, long-term partnerships with the business community, the public sector and academic institutions, contributing to stronger institutional capacity and to new opportunities for development and business.
She has contributed actively to a number of institutional and advisory bodies, as Vice President of the Council of Foreign Investors and as a member of the Board of the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones. As part of many years of work in the donor community, Sonja also worked on building the capacity of the ICT Chamber of Commerce, MASIT.
She founded the country’s largest start-up training centre, the Seavus Education and Development Centre, where she laid the foundations of an institution that became a byword for developing and shaping generations of young ICT professionals.
She holds a master’s degree in economics from the Sorbonne in Paris, and is mother to Marko.
